A look into the origin of Gonzalecaries

Gonzalecaries (pronounced Gunzah-leh-caries)

A child born not from an ambition to take over the jewelry market or a knack for making jewelry, but from a loving gesture to a special someone

When I say a loving gesture, the idea comes to me through a place of struggle. Let me start from the beginning, back in mid 2022. I always had the hardest time looking for something unique and perfect for my love. Being a natural gift giver, I pride myself on choosing the best things to show my love in any given situation. But in these times, I felt as if nothing readily available to me was beautifully unique enough to showcase my love and admiration for her. A rather frustrating realization!

The problems I had back in those days were questions like:

"If I buy her this, would someone else have it too?"

"Will she like this, even though her sister might have the same one?

"This is just a band-aid. What I really want to give her will cost me so much more. How can I possibly get her this in the meantime?

These questions, I thought to myself, haunted me during every major holiday throughout the year! Her birthday and Christmas were the worst! Doom-scrolling multiple pages and sites of jewelry, shoes, clothing, etc., nothing ever showcased the right message I wanted to convey to her. Instead, piling up gifts was a better way to operate.

Now, let me just say there isn't a problem with stacking gifts. When all else fails, this method definitely helps....but nothing ever was that perfect ONE. The one that encompasses everything that is her in one place. You can guess after the relentless cycle of what we as men go through (which in truth no one knows about) every holiday set in and made a home in my subconscious. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands...

I DECIDED TO MAKE IT FOR HER INSTEAD!

Before I dabbled in wire wrapping, I made paintings, drew tattoos and mingled in the practice of henna. NONE of these artistic abilities screamed JEWELRY. Starting out from ground zero required me to get to know different stones, crystals and metals. Training my hands to wrap wire from muscle memory instead of written instructions. IT WAS HARD!!! To say the least. Lol.

After many weeks of experimentation and blunders, I finally made something JUST FOR HER. Something that showcased my love and admiration in its detail. Something I made with my two hands to bring a smile to her face and keep it there for years to come. I created a rose quartz pendant out of silver-copper wire (low quality metals I experimented with in the beginning). A piece she still has this very day.

What I didn't realize at the time was that, though she was happy about the pendant and how it looked, that wasn't the real reason for her tears of joy and smiles. I had made her something from scratch that I had constructed for her. She was over the moon to receive it because I did it JUST FOR HER AND NO ONE ELSE. Finally! I cracked the code! No more mindless wandering in a mall or online looking for a gift... I CAN DO IT AND I CAN IMPROVE AND MAKE IT EVEN BETTER!

I made her many things after that. The smile she had when I gave her the pendant had become my addiction, my primary goal, my inspiration. The individuality that was crafted into each piece to promote her own unique beauty and bright smile, gave me the idea to create Gonzalecaries. To promote the individualism of society, while delivering great service full of love and heart.

It's a cheesy story, but its the truth.

Since then, I have decided to take on the mission to give men and women all around the world a reason to explore and embrace their own individuality. To give men and women alike a place to use their imagination and watch it become reality.

Gonzalecaries isn't just a jewelry store, it is a bazaar of the unusual ardor of self-expression.
